FAQ

  • Am I eligible to take these workshops?
If you are one of the following: 1) an undergrad/grad student enrolled in a degree program, 2) a faculty member, or 3) a staff member of a post-secondary institution, YES.
  • Do I get charged?
Academic/Student membership (which is required for signing up for the workshops) costs $25/year. Once you become an Academic/Student member, you can take both the workshop series and the student capstone for free (it's a REALLY good deal).
  • Do I need to sign up for VIVA membership even if I'm a SFU/UBC/BCIT student?
    Yes.
  • Do I need to be from SFU/UBC/BCIT?
No; as long as you're a student/faculty/staff from a post-secondary institution you're more than welcome to attend.
  • Is taking the "exam" a requirement?
No, but there are perks if you take it. If you pass (>75%) you will earn a certificate of completion and will also be eligible to do the Andrew Wade student capstone project.
  • What happens if I don't pass?
You will NOT get kicked out! The mentor can provide you feedback on the specific points you can improve on, and you can rewrite the exam or re-take the workshops.
  • Can I do this and the Andrew Wade student capstone project concurrently?
    No.
